Create a finished garden in minutes...

The Babyllon Bowl is one of most celebrated gardening innovations that provides an easy and inexpensive alternative to conventional hanging baskets, flower boxes, wall planters, window box planters, and other container gardening products.

You can create finished Babyllon Bowl baskets that look professionally planted in only minutes because the design does the arranging work for you. The reason the Babyllon Bowl is so easy to plant is that it has no chains or horizontal rings/sections to interfere with your efforts. You don't have to push roots through a mesh or through holes which damage the roots or maneuver them around chains or rings which also can break stems or blossoms. All you do is slide the plants in between the basket slats. When you are finished you have an instant ball shaped display of plants and flowers. You see the beauty of your plants and flowers, not the basket itself.

  1. Take 12 three or four inch plants out of their pots. Over one inch layer of potting soil/compost slide six fully rooted plants down between the Babyllon Bowl basket slats using every other space. Keep the roots to the center and the flowers or leaves to the outside.

  2. Fill the other six empty spaces with long strand sphagnum moss. Add more soil and fertilizer to the hole in the center before starting the next row.

  3. For the next layer, place a plant above each space that had moss the first time. Angle the flowers up at about a 45-degree angle to begin to form the ball shape.

  4. Continue filling every other space (above moss) with another six of your 3" plants and then go back and fill the empty six spaces with moss.

  5. Now add more soil and fertilizer to the hole in the center. Plant the top of the basket with 1-3 plants and surround them with moss as you did with all the other plant. This finishes your Babyllon Bowl basket and creates the domed shape that now looks like a ball of flowers.
When you water the basket, the moss transports moisture to the roots where it is needed because the moss surrounds all the roots. The domed shape of the top also helps to retain moisture and reduce evaporation better than in any flat top container where the top surface dries out more quickly.
Since the Babyllon Bowl comes in three free-standing styles and one hanging style and doesn't require a ceiling to suspend it, your potential locations for adding a ball of flowers to your decor are greatly increased. A deck or porch post, a fence or a wall are favorite spots of many of our customers.

The basket fits all the stands so you have the flexibility to change your container arrangements just by simply lifting the baskets off their stands and switching the baskets around. In case your hose doesn't reach all your basket locations, lift them off the stands place them on the ground to water them. The ease of moving the baskets into the shade becomes even more important if you are going to be away for a few days. If you are away for a longer time, just set the Babyllon Bowl basket in a container with some water (in the shade or your garage) or take the basket to your neighbors to water when they water their containers.

The Babyllon Bowl is rugged, made of steel and coated with a layer of plastic, so it won't rust and will last many, many years. Because every Babyllon Bowl basket sits on a steel hub, it rotates freely to allow all your plants to receive the light and water they need. If the plants in the back of the basket are being robbed of light by an overhang or fence, just spin the basket around and give those rear plants some time in the sun.

For less money than you would spend on a hanging basket from the nursery, you will have a planting system that you can plant and enjoy for a lifetime.
