Big Moss is high quality, long strand sphagnum moss which has been dried and compressed and then packaged in a block measuring 12 inches by 12 inches by one inch thick. Once re-hydrated, this block contains enough moss to plant up to eight 12 inch baskets or four window boxes. By lining your baskets or planting your Babyllon Bowl baskets with Big Moss, you will achieve and maintain better, healthier flowers by providing a water retaining environment for uptake by the roots of your plants.
The advantages of Big Moss are in both its water retaining ability once re-hydrated and its stability in the dried block form. By placing your plants on top of soil/compost and surrounding the roots of your plants with this superior, 98% pure long strand sphagnum moss, you will reduce evaporation from the soil as well as increase air circulation thereby ensuring healthier and more even plant growth. It is easy and convenient to use and to store. Simply cut off a section to use only what is required for your basket or flower box and just add water. Store the rest of the block in a closed plastic bag until you need moss again (even years). It will be clean and ready to be re-hydrated for your next basket or flower box.
Big Moss acts as a high moisture reservoir and a high nutrient holding capacity as well. By adding dry slow release fertilizer to the soil and moss, the plants get the best possible start. Big Moss is environmentally friendly and is a renewable resource. It is harvested twice a year then compressed and dried to prevent mold or insect contamination. However, no chemicals are used in the preparation of this moss. As a result, Big Moss creates the perfect environment for baskets, containers, flower boxes orchid propagation, mulching and house plants. Because the long strand sphagnum moss is much easier to attach to mesh forms, it is the choice of customers making topiaries or living wreaths or lining hanging baskets.
